Thomas’s Schools Foundation (TSF) awards means-tested bursaries for children to attend their local Thomas’s London Day School (TLDS). Since the programme’s inception, TSF has granted £275,000 in bursaries for over 20 children. Most Foundation Bursary holders join from a local state school in Year 7, progressing to a full range of top senior schools. TSF also provides short-term hardship bursaries to existing TLDS families who encounter unexpected financial difficulty.
We welcome applications from Thomas’s parents to provide temporary assistance for the parents of current pupils who experience unforeseen economic hardship.
External bursaries provide support for the parents of primary school and junior school applicants who would otherwise be financially constrained from applying for places at TLDS. A child must have a firm offer of a place at one of the Schools before TSF can consider an application for financial aid.
For bursaries of both types, the Foundation may wish to see a significant contribution from parents, typically covering both a share of fees and all ‘extras”.
All bursaries are granted subject to review of the child’s financial circumstances and performance at school.
Thomas’s will assist bursary holders in finding support for the final stages of school education. TLDS prepare children for senior school entrance and scholarship/bursary examinations at both 11+ and 13+, and place pupils into a broad range of senior schools. The school Heads have a strong knowledge of a variety of schools and possible sources of funding and work actively, together with the parents, to place pupils in a senior school that is the best fit for the child.
