Bursaries

Thomas’s Schools Foundation (TSF) awards means-tested bursaries for children to attend their local Thomas’s London Day School (TLDS). Since the programme’s inception, TSF has granted £350,000 in bursaries for over 30 children.

TSF also provides short-term hardship support to existing TLDS families who encounter unexpected financial difficulty.

What is a TLDS bursary?
External burasries provide support for the parents of primary school and junior school applicants who would otherwise be financially constrained from applying for places at TLDS.

Who can apply?
Most Foundation Bursary holders join from a local schools in Year 7. A child must have a firm offer of a place at one of the TLDS before the Foundation can consider an application for financial aid.

All bursaries are granted subject to review of the child’s financial circumstances and performance at school.

The Foundation will normally wish to see a significant contribution from parents/guardians, typically covering both a share of fees and all ‘extras”; which may amount to around £2,000 each year.

What does a bursary provide?
TLDS will assist bursary holders in finding support for the final stages of school education and will prepare children for senior school entrance and scholarship/bursary examinations at both 11+ and 13+. TLDS Heads have a strong knowledge of a variety of schools and possible sources of funding and work actively, together with the parents, to place pupils in a senior school that is the best fit for the child.

What schools do they go on to?
Leavers under the scheme have progressed to senior schools such as Cardinal Vaughan, Charterhouse, Cheltenham Ladies College, Dulwich College, Godolphin & Latymer, St Paul’s Boys and many other top schools.

We welcome from secondary schools seeking candidates for their own bursary programmes.
