TSF bridges a critical gap between core curriculum funding and new learning opportunities for our school children. We partner with local schools and community associations to develop and support programmes that build children’s self esteem while enhancing their core skills of reading and writing.
We focus on programmes that meet the greatest community needs.
- Over 45% of the school children in our programmes participate in their school’s breakfast programme because they do not have that provision at home.
- Many of our participating students have no place to study at home and no access to out of school or outdoor programmes.
- The overwhelming majority of school children we work with speak English as a second language.
- Literacy in London is at an all time low.
The programmes we develop are having a big impact:
- A pupil jumped two reading levels following a terms working with her volunteer.
- One pupil’s attendance record turned around once she was chosen to have a volunteer read with her.
- One student overcame her fears through a drama programme and performed alone on stage to her peers’ wide acclaim.
- 300 students at one school are skipping rope both at school and at home after TSF provided the ropes to support the school’s fitness programme.
