Means-tested bursaries at any of the four preparatory schools of Thomas’s London Day Schools are available for children aged 7 or older, subject to the Foundation being satisfied that support is needed and will be in the best interests of the child. The schools will assist bursary recipients in finding support for the final stages of school education. Thomas’s prepares children for senior school entrance and scholarship/bursary examinations at both 11+ and 13+, and places pupils into a broad range of senior schools. The school Heads have a strong knowledge of a variety of schools and possible sources of funding and work actively, together with the parents, to place pupils in a senior school that is the best fit for the child. Bursaries may be “internal”, for children who already attend one of the schools; or may be “external”, for children who wish to join one of the schools. We welcome applications for internal bursaries at any time, to provide temporary financial assistance for the parents of current pupils who experience unforeseen economic hardship; please email us at bursaries@tsfoundation.org.uk if you would like to know more. External bursaries provide support for the parents of prep school applicants who would otherwise  be financially constrained from applying for places at Thomas’s London Day Schools.   Awards are additionally subject both to meeting the chosen school’s entrance criteria, and to the availability of a place in the appropriate year group. A child must have a firm offer of a place at Thomas’s before the Foundation can consider an application for financial aid. For bursaries of both types, the Foundation will normally wish to see a significant contribution from parents/guardians, typically covering both a share of fees and all “extras”; extras may amount to around £2,000 each year. All bursaries are granted subject to review of the child’s financial circumstances and performance at school. Your next steps in relation to External bursaries. If you, or anyone you know, might be interested in applying for a place at a Thomas’s school, please contact the Registrar at the chosen school, whose contact details may be found in the Thomas’s London Day Schools website. You should ask about assistance at this stage. Please also read and download the following documents:
